Week 2 - Day 3
Yoga Yoga Yoga
I think I could look forward to these yoga days. Or, sorry, “Active Recovery” days.
I didn’t think I would like yoga as much as I do. There’s something about getting into a deep stretch and just feeling your muscles that I really enjoy. It also relieves the stress and tension you (or at least I) get built up throughout the week.
I also like the fact that these days usually happen in the middle of my week, so I’m hoping it’ll become a pattern that the rest of my weeks are smoother sailing.
My AI Life Coach didn’t give me a new yoga flow to do this week. It told me to stick with what we did during Week 1. It also said that I could do light stretching with a foam roller for muscle recovery, but I figured yoga would be more fun.
Of all the yoga moves in that Week 1 flow, I still don’t like Downward Facing Dog and Corpse Pose. I just can’t get into those 2 and I watch the timer tick down whenever I’m doing them. Hopefully it’ll suggest a new flow soon that doesn’t include those.
Ugh…Eating
Breakfast
Last night, I decided to prepare breakfast which would be the chia seed pudding. I still remember the overnight oats from the week before, so I was hoping this would be just as good.
And I was right!
I actually think this one was better than the overnight oats. With that breakfast, the berries had gotten soggy and then when I heated the thing yup, they got warm and soggy which was just gross. Here, the berries were soft (because they were frozen rather than fresh), but it wasn’t as bad. Maybe the chia seeds absorbed more of the liquid? Or maybe the berries melded better with them than the oats? Hard to say, but I’d make it again.
Morning Snack
It was around this time period that I realized something was wrong with me. I wasn’t feeling very well, sort of sick to my stomach, but not too bad that I couldn’t function. Being lactose intolerant, I thought maybe it had something to do with the chia pudding, but I’ve never had a reaction to almond milk (a notably lacking in lactose milk). I sort of forced myself to forget about it and pretend I wasn’t feeling sick, in the hopes that it would go away.
To do this, I distracted myself with my favorite snack; rice cakes. Oh rice cakes, how I love you.
Lunch
I chopped up the rest of the chicken that I had left over from yesterday’s soup and made it into a salad. I also decided to treat myself by adding some croutons to the top of said salad because I felt like I deserved it.
Evening Snack
I’m not sure why my work decides to have meetings so late in the work day, but it never fails that someone needs something around this time.
Luckily, this meeting I didn’t really have to talk through, so I was able to enjoy a handful of mixed nuts as I listened to them.
Dinner
We had baked salmon on Day 1 and I had 2 fillets leftover from that. Salmon doesn’t last too long in the fridge, so I wanted to get them cooked before they spoiled. Thankfully, one of the recipes was a grilled salmon fillet, so let’s try that.
I honestly don’t know which one was better, the grilled or baked salmon. They both were equally good, but I’d probably say the baked was a bit better overall due to the crispy skin. The grilled salmon had a good flavor, but that baked salmon was to die for.
Love me some salmon, that’s for sure.
