Week 2 - Day 4
And then it all went wrong
Yea, today isn’t a good day.
All of last night, I was up sick with stomach cramps and cold chills. It was a miserable night to be sure.
I definitely didn’t stick to my schedule this day because I didn’t even really get to bed till about 4:00 am. Finally got up around 9:00 am feeling a bit better and decided to ignore whatever was wrong last night. Usually, for me at least, if I ignore that I’m sick long enough, my body will start to feel better. I was really hoping that would be the case today.
I forced myself to do my exercises. I didn’t do any pre- or post-workout stretches. I didn’t have the energy. I did walk on the treadmill for about 10 minutes just to get a read on everything. This was just a quick assessment of how things were going, whether we were still feeling nauseous, and whether we could go on or not. Body said it was ok, shaken, but ok, so we decided to continue.
Thank goodness today was upper body strength day. No belly or abs stuff, no harsh cardio, just lifting dumbbells. Those push-ups were definitely incline push-ups though, I wasn’t going to strain myself too much.
I don’t wanna eat, but I have to
Breakfast
Yea, breakfast was a struggle. I didn’t want to cook anything, the thought of actually eating made my stomach rumble. It was not a good period.
However, you have to keep your body fueled. Even when you’re sick and not wanting anything, you have to get something in you just so your body doesn’t eat itself. I should know, I’ve had that happen once or twice.
I forced myself to eat a piece of toast with peanut butter. I wanted bland so I didn’t have to worry about spices disrupting anything. I also knew toast was probably the best bet because it would absorb any acid that had built up inside.
Morning Snack
No, this isn’t happening today. Not only was my day a late start, but it took everything in me to get breakfast down.
Skip.
Lunch
I actually started feeling better around this time. I was starting to think it had been maybe a 24 hr bug or something of that nature because I was pretty hungry.
I wanted to keep it light, but have a heartier meal than toast. I went with a turkey wrap with spinach, no Greek yogurt spread or any other kind of weird spice or topping. Just turkey and spinach on a tortilla shell.
No rumbles returning, so maybe things are looking up.
Evening Snack
My day was still off kilter, so we didn’t do this snack either.
Skip.
Dinner
After everything that happened last night, I wasn’t cooking anything. I didn’t care what I ate, but I did NOT feel like standing over the stove.
My household had gone out for errands while I was working today and went to a restaurant. One of them brought a leftover steak hoagie home, so I ate a third of it. Not on the diet, but I didn’t care.
When you’ve been sick all night, you don’t really care what goes in your mouth as long as you start feeling better. The diet can wait till tomorrow.
