Week 4 - Day 3
Oops, we cheated…
The day started well.
For exercises, it was lower body day so plenty of leg exercises. I got introduced to the Bulgarian split squat which, wasn’t too bad, but I can see why people would hate it. I only did it with my body weight, but I can only imagine how much it would suck with added weights.
Honestly was surprised at the fact my AI Life Coach didn’t want me doing lunges today. I guess it figured Day 1 was enough lunges for the week. That said, I think this is the first time I’ve done leg day without a lunge or two worked into the circuit.
Very weird.
This was also the first day that it didn’t give me a cardio based warm-up. Now, granted, it was only starting on Week 3 that it specifically stated warm-up exercises and cooldown stretches. However, today’s warm-up was “leg-focused warm-up”. I had no idea what that meant, so I assumed stretches. Luckily it gave a really good list of stretches back in Week 1, so we referred to that for our warm-up.
Everything felt good after working out. I’m still sore in my legs for some reason, but the stretching helped. It’s also not too bad to really hinder my day-to-day life, so I’ve been ignoring it for the most part.
Mealtime
Breakfast
Breakfast was also really good today. I was still following the my AI Life Coach meal plan and had some oats with cinnamon and almonds. I’m really not a fan of almonds (they taste bad to me), but we ate them anyways. I also added some sugar to the oats since they were a bit bland still.
All-in-all, not a bad way to start the day.
And then we screwed up
I am definitely one of those people that get sucked into their own head and ignore the world around them. When I get focused on a project, especially something that is interesting or challenging to me, I forget about everything else and focus on the task at hand.
This is what happened today.
Truth be told, I’m also in the process of studying for a major certification in my field and I only have limited time to practice for it. I’m trying to make the most of the time given, but the clock is running out and it’s putting pressure on me.
Well, I finally got through all of the learning material and have started into the practical stuff. This forces you to think harder about how different things are connected, what they mean, and how to use them to achieve your goal. It’s fairly challenging work, but I love it.
Unfortunately, this means there is a huge chance that I will ignore everything, including what my body needs. I definitely forget to eat and drink during this time period. Honestly, I only remember to use the restroom when it becomes an emergency.
I can’t explain it, but this is what happened today.
Therefore, we didn’t eat any of the meals at actual mealtimes. Instead, what happened was whenever a bathroom emergency arose and was taken care of, I would notice the clock, say “oh I should eat something quick”, then grab a small slice of cake and stuff it in my mouth. Literally. I would grab some cake with my hand, eat it while I walked back to my computer, and start the entire process again.
Is this good? Probably not. Can I help it? Not at all.
I can’t tell you how many times this happened because I don’t even think I was aware of it occurring. I only remembered that I needed to eat actual food once I was done with the module I was working on and saw the clock (it was about 8:00 pm then). Then, I only got a sandwich and went to bed.
It was a rough day for a diet, but that’s life for you.
