Week 3 - Day 3

Walking, Walking, Walking

I’m something of a Disney fanatic.

I love coming to the parks. They are literally my happy place. I don’t have to worry about work, home, anything when I’m down here. It’s a nice escapism for me and it allows me to reset everything that I’ve been stressed about.

I also consume a lot of Disney related media. I follow several people that post about Disney on social media, I read blog posts, I watch videos, everything.

My one biggest pet peeve is the over-estimation of how many steps you walk on the daily during a park visit.

Everyone overestimates. They all say they get between 15,000-20,000 steps a day. I’ve even some claims of 35,000 or more! It’s crazy.

As someone who goes a lot (3 times a year minimum), let me tell you how many steps I usually average.

10,000

And that’s even me trying to deliberately go out of my way to get more steps.

Now, granted, each park is different. Hollywood Studios is the smallest, Animal Kingdom is the biggest, Epcot is the most spread out, and Magic Kingdom has you zigzagging everywhere. There are strategies for each park, but no matter how much I diverge from them, I still only average about 10,000.

I did manage to get up to almost 20,000 steps during my Epcot day, but that was because we did 3 laps around the countries, a walking tour, and walked from Guardians of the Galaxy to the Land and back twice.

I would love to know where these people are that are getting that many steps in a normal day and follow them around. I need to see what they’re doing.

Alright, rant over. Today was a “light recovery” day so I “lightly recovered” by going to Animal Kingdom.

Mealtime

Breakfast

Still digging my banana “hotdog”. It’s simple, easy, and quick. Very little cleanup involved and I can eat it while my coffee is being made.

Speaking of coffee, I don’t think I ever brought it up before, but I drink coffee. A lot. Like, I love coffee more than any other drink. I was never a big soda fan so I always stuck with water until college.

Then the fandom hit and I’ve never looked back.

During this entire experiment, coffee was the one thing I refused to negotiate on. Is it bad for you? Probably. Do I add enough creamer to it that I should count the calories? Absolutely. Am I going to? Nope. End of story.

Morning Snack

Some more rice cakes for our snack today.. Easy to eat in line and while you’re waiting for people to get done shopping.

Lunch

I actually skipped lunch today. We had made reservations earlier for the Yak and Yeti restaurant for dinner and I didn’t want to eat before it because I knew I was going to overeat there.

Sorry my AI Life Coach. Doing the best I can.

Evening Snack

I was getting a bit hungry so I had a granola bar around this time period. Still light enough to not ruin my dinner, but enough to fill my stomach so I didn’t get sick.

Dinner

If you’ve never eaten at the Yak and Yeti restaurant at Animal Kingdom, I can’t recommend it enough. The atmosphere is amazing, the food was excellent, the prices were theme park reasonable. It was definitely worth it.

For dinner, I went Korean based and had Korean fried chicken and sticky ribs. Not healthy in the slightest, but we tried.

I only ate about half of each, so not the full bad portion. I also only had a few spoonfuls of rice due to the breading on the chicken.

We tried, but it was too good to ignore. 10/10 would cheat again.
