Week 3 - Day 1
Oh no…my weakness is here
It’s the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot! This is one of the main reasons we come down to Disney World during this time of year because it’s my favorite.
It also, as the name suggests, is filled with delicious food and alcohol which are definitely NOT on the diet.
But, before we get to that, let’s talk exercises. My family and I brought our RV down this time so I had more privacy to do my exercises, but not a lot of room. Side note, I’ve worked out in a hotel’s fitness room occasionally, but it definitely isn’t my favorite thing to do.
Anyways, I knew I was going to get great cardio walking around the parks, so I didn’t worry too much about that portion of the exercises. Instead, I did the main full body circuit and some stretches.
The only exercise I had a bit of trouble with was the walking lunges, simply for the fact I didn’t have a lot of room to walk. So, simple stationary lunges it is.
Mealtime
Breakfast
Since I get up so early, I figured breakfast was still on me during the vacation. I have access to a stove, but the thought of cleaning dishes everyday made me struggle, so I wanted something quick and easy. That’s why before we even started down here, I bought bread, peanut butter, and bananas.
That’s what I plan on having for breakfast everyday during this trip and that’s what I had for breakfast today.
And then the rest of the day…
Look, I’m going to be honest, I used to worry and stress about eating while on vacation. I made everyone miserable around me and it just wasn’t worth it so I stopped. Especially when one of the main reasons for us coming down here in the first place is to visit something called the “Food and Wine Festival”.
How can you not drink and be merry??
Anyways, the festival doesn’t start till 11:00 am, so I had plenty of time to walk off my small breakfast and then some. We also had a scheduled tour at 12:30 pm, so we got an even later start than that.
But I did enjoy myself during this time. I didn’t worry about what we were eating or how much of it because I didn’t want to think about it. I knew that whatever damage was done, I’d fix it next week.
I will say, we learned a long time ago to only get one thing and split it amongst all of us (3 people). That way we aren’t eating too much of one thing, we aren’t spending 3x the money, everyone gets to have a taste, and it’s not as fattening as having an entire order to yourself. This has always worked in our favor in the past, so this is the strategy we employed today too.
Another saving grace is I didn’t eat and drink so much I got sick. Because (I hate to admit it) I usually do that. Finally learned my lesson on that one!
So, that was Day 1 of my vacation. I knew it was going to be bad, but it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought food-wise.
