Week 3 - Day 0
Vacation Time!!
Current Stats: 120.3 lbs; Body Fat Weight: 26.3%
Alright, we are all better from our food poisoning and just in time because we are heading for vacation! (Those 2 pounds lost week were 100% from being sick. They will be gained back more than likely)
When I first started this journey, I knew about this upcoming trip that I had. I actually have several trips planned before the end of the year, but that’s beside the point. I almost delayed this entire experiment till the new year (New Year’s Resolution and all that nonsense), but then I thought about it better and said, “No, we have to do this now”.
And, why, you may ask. Because, it never fails that I always delay something due to an upcoming trip or inconvenience that’s going to make it hard. “Oh I have this trip so I’ll do it the week after” or “This project is too stressful, it can wait”. And I’m sick of those excuses.
There’s ALWAYS going to be something in my life that is going on. I’m a very busy person. I work. I take care of my family. I have a life. There is never NOT going to be a long period of time where I can simply do what I want without any outside interference.
I just have to figure out how to do both.
Thus, we are doing both AI Life Coaching and Vacation Time, at the same time. Is it going to be easy? No. Am I going to follow the rules to a T? Nope. I’m going to enjoy my vacation, while also trying to balance the healthy lifestyle.
To do this, like always, I started off with telling my AI Life Coach exactly what I was doing.
AI Prompt -> AI Life Coach, for week 3 I will be on vacation at Walt Disney World. We will be staying in a camper. What do you recommend for exercises for this week, knowing that I have limited space and no equipment with me?
That’s right. I’m heading to Disney World for Week 3 and I will be glamping while doing it. I won’t even have the luxury of a hotel fitness room with me.
Now, did I have to give it that specific of information? No, but I wanted to be honest with the chatbot. I wanted it to provide workouts that made sense in a very limited location. When I get down to foods, I also wanted it to know whether I could cook or not and where exactly I was going so it could recommend meals for me.
For the fitness routine, it gave bodyweight exercises that could be done in a compact place. This made me happy because I honestly don’t have much room in my camper. Further, since I get up so early, it’ll probably be dark when I do these exercises, so it’s not like I could go outside and perform them comfortably.
However, we got the solid push-ups, lunges, planks, and squats for our workouts this week. Since I said I was going to Disney World, it also took the massive amount of walking I will be doing into consideration, which was a nice touch as well.
Meals was my biggest concern though. I knew I could control breakfast and possibly snacks throughout the day. It was lunch and dinner that I was really struggling with. I love to eat and I love to try new things. Disney, right now, has Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival going on and it’s the Halloween season with lots of fall treats. I knew there were going to be some days that I just couldn’t worry about, but I still wanted to try and follow it’s recommendations.
AI Prompt -> What about food recommendations. I am able to cook breakfast and eat snacks, but I will probably be stuck eating lunch and dinner out. However, I would still like to be healthy during those times as well, so do you have any recommendations for that?
Breakfast was what I was expecting; scrambled eggs, peanut butter toast, oatmeal, etc. Stuff we had already seen during Weeks 1 and 2. Snacks were also the same such as apple slices, carrots, mixed nuts, rice cakes, etc. It was the tips while eating out that I liked the best.
If you are ever stuck eating out at restaurants (like, for instance, while on vacation), there are healthier options you can choose. Here is what my AI Life Coach said on this fact:
Choose grilled or baked options over fried
Opt for salads with lean proteins such as grilled chicken, shrimp or turkey
Ask for dressing ont he side to control the amount
Watch out for sauces and dressings
Avoid creamy sauces (like Alfredo) or ask for them on the side
Choose vinaigrette or olive oil and lemon for salad dressing
Focus on veggie-filled dishes
Portion Control
Many restaurant portions are oversized, so consider splitting a meal with someone or saving half for later
You can also order an appetizer as your main meal for smaller portions
Whole grain or leaner carbs
Choose whole wheat bread, brown rice, or quinoa
Opt for baked potatoes or sweet potatoes over fries or white bread
It then gave some ideas for both quick service and sit down meals with the added “Let me know if you’d like more tips or specific restaurant suggestions”.
Now, I know Disney World pretty well I would say. I go there several times a year as a quick get away and it’s probably one of my favorite vacation spots. You can guarantee I’m going to see what my AI Life Coach gives as recommendations for restaurants.
But there we have it. Week 3, on vacation. Let’s see how this week goes. I’m just happy I’m no longer sick!
