Week 3 - Day 5
Let’s Do Them All!
Since yesterday I only managed to get around 18,000 steps when park hopping between 2 parks, I decided to do something a bit crazier. What if we jumped between all 4?
Now, I’ve got to be honest with you. My family had been wanting to do this challenge for a while and actually planned on doing it while we were down here this time. It just so happens that our challenge day landed on Day 5 when I had been complaining about lack of steps the entire trip.
Before we get into that though, I’m still doing my exercises in the camper. Today was Upper Body and Core day so lots of push-ups, plank to push-ups, superman holds, and Russian twists. I somehow hate superman holds more than I hate planks, but this wasn’t too bad today.
I’m going to be as brief as I can with this because I could layout our entire day in great detail. It was a lot of fun and I would encourage anyone to do it if they had the time. However, I don’t want to bore anyone, so I’m only hitting highlights. I will be combining the exercise/mealtime sections since they’re too intertwined to separate. So, that said, we started our day off with a peanut butter and banana “hotdog”, our go-to breakfast while on vacation.
Once we were done and ready, the first park we hit was Animal Kingdom.
Unfortunately, I have some older people in my group, so I couldn’t make a full lap around each park. Instead, I got them to compromise with half the park. For Animal Kingdom, we walked through Pandora, up to Africa, then back down to the center of the park. We had a small snack of a pizza (the three of us split one small 4 slice pizza), then walked to the buses to go to Hollywood Studio.
At Hollywood Studio, they got in line for a ride that would take 45 minutes and I told them I was going to go grab a drink. What I really did was power walked around the entire park, through Toy Story Land, into Star Wars (where I actually did get that coffee/Coco Pebbles alcoholic drink), then back around by the ABC Commissary. Took about 20ish minutes so I was able to meet up with them in line and enjoy the ride.
From there, we took the Sky Liner to Epcot. I don’t have a fear of heights, but I hate the Sky Liner. It shakes, you hear the wind hitting your little car, and going backwards is the worst. But, we survived and ended up back in France in Epcot. I did manage to convince them to go the long way around the countries to the front of the park. We probably ate too much along the way, but the Food and Wine is too tempting. Once we got up front, we hopped Monorails to Magic Kingdom.
At Magic Kingdom, the party was tired so we didn’t really go back through the park. We made it as far as through Frontierland and out Adventureland before they decided to go set up for the fireworks. Now, this is where the diet took a pretty bad turn. Options are limited at this point, the crowd is too thick to really go bring food back, and tempers were flaring because exhaustion was setting in. We all compromised on Casey’s Hotdogs because it was close by and relatively cheap. I went with just a side of fries because honestly, not a fan of hotdogs. But, this was pretty bad considering everything else I had eaten that day.
So, to summarize real fast, we started off in Animal Kingdom, took a bus to Hollywood Studios, took the Sky Liner to Epcot, then the Monorail to Magic Kingdom. I also forgot to mention that we actually started at the Transportation Center since we drove our personal vehicle in, got on a Monorail to the Polynesian, then took a bus to Animal Kingdom. Our ending was hopping on the ferry from Magic Kingdom to go back to the Transportation Center and then a walk to our car. This means we did all 4 parks in a matter of 12ish hours, took 2 buses, 3 Monorails, 2 Sky Liners (there’s a forced transfer between the two parks), and 1 ferry.
And how many steps did I get in total?
I’m glad you asked. The answer is 20,802 steps, exactly (according to my Fitbit).
I give up.
